Hi, I’m Kelly!
Where to begin? I’ve had a book in my hand since before I could read. No, seriously. This isn’t one of those eye-rolling, she thinks she’s so literate and fancy, kind of stories (those are annoying). My parents have a picture of me when I was two, lying on the bed with a stack of books beside me. It appears I am flipping through the pages of one.
Reading has always been the biggest escape for me. Naturally, or insanely, it turned into thoughts of what kind of stories I could write and share with the world. Except… I had zero clue where to start beyond the occasional (brilliant… ha) short story I’d scratch into a notepad when I found the time. So, one day, I Googled “How do I write a novel?” and it brought me to information about an 18-month novel-writing course. The classes were at night, so I could go after work, and… it changed my life.
I wrote a book. And another one. And another one. As of now, I have one published (EEK!). But you best know, I’m working on more!
So, let’s be friends! Reader friends, writer friends, sarcastic friends, friends that sometimes cuss, friends that want to buck the establishment, friends who read highbrow, friends that read the juiciest smut. Welcome!
What does Kelly write?
My primary genre would be called “Women’s Fiction.” Which basically means I write fiction, but my main characters will always be women. And the stories will be about their journey and their growth. I will probably put them through the wringer—because life puts us all through the wringer— but they will persevere! They will also experience some yummy-hot romance. And they’ll kick ass on their journey even when they’re hurting because that’s what I hope for out of life.
Life can be hard, man. And I think I want to write about that. But I also want you to walk away from my books feeling hopeful and empowered. And maybe you’ll have a laugh or two along the way.
